Wisconsin Engineering Design Competition
For information on the 2017-2018 competition - visit the Innovation Portal!
The Wisconsin Engineering Design Competition is an annual, statewide competition for Wisconsin students currently enrolled in one of the PLTW Capstone Courses - "Engineering Design and Development" or "Biomedical Innovation." This competition recognizes student work and makes it possible to move that work to the next level!
The competition is for students currently enrolled in a Project Lead the Way capstone course, either Engineering Design and Development (EDD) or Biomedical Innovation (BI). The competition is designed to recognize and reward outstanding student projects and highlight the importance of engineering design and problem solving in STEM education.
Once the portfolio is submitted on the Innovation Portal, it will be reviewed by a jury of practicing professionals using the same rubric embedded in the portal, the Engineering Design Process Portfolio Scoring Rubric (EDPPSR). Participation enables students to achieve a level of recognition that will in aid in securing scholarships and advanced standing as they pursue post-secondary education opportunities.
All participating teams and/or individuals, defined as 1-3 members currently enrolled in PLTW EDD or PLTW BI for the current academic year, will receive a letter of recognition for submitting the project for review. All projects will remain the intellectual property of the team/individual, however, the administrator requires permission to develop and distribute the story behind the top 3 rated projects.
